Copyright takedowns

Draft for legal review (Brazilian Copyright Law, Lei 9.610/98, and Marco Civil da Internet).

subtitld.cc hosts subtitles (text) only, never video. If you hold the rights to a work and believe a subtitle here infringes them, send a notice with the form below.

What a notice needs

  1. Your name, and the organization you represent.
  2. The copyrighted work.
  3. The links of the subtitles on subtitld.cc.
  4. A statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized.
  5. A statement that the notice is accurate and that you're the rights holder or authorized to act for them.
  6. Your signature (your typed full name).

What happens next

Staff review the notice. If it's complete, the subtitles are taken down: their pages answer 451 Unavailable for legal reasons and name the notice. Files with the same text can't be uploaded again. Each uploader gets a strike, and three strikes close the account.

You get a private link to follow the decision. The notice itself is published (without your email) so people can see why the subtitles were removed.

Counter-notices

The owner of a removed subtitle can send a counter-notice from their inbox or the notice page if they believe it was removed by mistake. If staff accept it, the subtitle is put back and the notice page shows it. The sender of the notice can see this through their private link.

Send a copyright notice

We use it only about this notice. It isn’t published.

Title, year and what you hold the rights to (the script, a translation…).

One link or share ID per line.

Type your full name.

The notice is published without your email, and the uploader is told who sent it.
