Community rules

Last updated 2026-10-07

Draft. These rules will be reviewed before launch.

Allowed

Subtitles and captions for any video: transcriptions, translations, hearing-impaired versions and fan work, subject to copyright takedowns.

Not allowed

• Spam, advertising lines inside subtitles, or links to pirated video.
• Uploading someone else's subtitle as your own. Fork it instead, so they're credited.
• Machine translation without the machine-translated flag.
• Impersonation, personal data or harassment in descriptions and comments.
• Malicious files or illegal content.

A subtitle that faithfully includes offensive dialogue from a film is fine: these rules are about what you write, not what the characters say.

What happens when rules are broken

Content can be hidden or removed, and accounts can be warned, suspended or banned. You'll always be told why, and you can appeal.
